Annual Taste of Loyola

The Annual TASTE OF LOYOLA co-sponsored by the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) and the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) will be held on Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at 12pm in the Atrium. For those who are unfamiliar with the Taste, this is an event set up similar to the Taste of Chicago. We will have a variety of different cultural foods that you can buy a "taste" of or a full portion of the dish.

  • Alumni Relations Liasons (x2) (M4s only). The alumni relations liasons are responsible for deciding on an appropriate gift upon graduation. They are also responsible for working along with the current Alumni Association and class president to promote giving beyond graduation. The idea is that this position will be for “life.”

You have the option to run for Social Chair + another position. This is the only situation in which you can hold two positions at the same time.

Psychiatry Panel

The MIND (Mental Illness and Neurological Disorders) group will be hosting a Psychiatry panel on Wednesday March 5th, from 11:45 to 12:45 in Room 460. Dr. Rao (Chairman of the Psychiatry Department) and three other psychiatrists of different sub-specialties will be telling us about practicing Psychiatry today and what rotations and residency can be like. Breast Cancer Outcome Disparities in African American Women

The Oncology Interest Group and the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) will be hosting Dr. Patricia Robinson, a Loyola Hematologist/Oncologist, to speak on the epidemiology of breast cancer and outcome disparities in African American women. This is bound to be a great talk and will provide some interesting insight.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 2/25 from 12:00-1:00 PM in room 360. Baked goods will be provided.

Medical Marijuana Panel

Dr. Matthew McCoyd, assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, will first be giving an introduction to the topic of medical marijuana, what the laws currently state, and some brief pros/cons at 5:30 PM. The panel will formally start at 6:00 PM.

M2/M3 TGIF

This Saturday the M2 and M3 classes are hosting their TGIF (or should I say TGIS?) party at Slainte Irish Pub at 7505 Madison St in Forest Park! Come out for a build-your-own sliders bar, mac n' cheese and cheese fries from Scratch Kitchen starting at 7:30 pm. There will also be a tab for drink specials open from 7:30 pm until the money runs out, so get there early! The DJ will begin playing at 10 pm. $2.50 domestics and $4.00 well drinks until 11:00 pm. All classes welcome. Hope to see you there!
